SIX GENERATIONS

Nestled in the heart of the Upper Snake River, the Siddoway family's enduring connection to ranching spans an inspiring six generations. This is not just a tale of a family's deep-rooted relationship with the land; it's a remarkable odyssey of resilience, innovation, and unwavering commitment.

The story begins with James and Ruth Siddoway, who, in 1886, embarked on a journey that would affect generations. They settled along Canyon Creek, a tributary of the majestic Teton River. It was here, in a modest canvas tent, that they laid the foundation for the sheep ranch. James, skilled in carpentry, built a sawmill and sourced drinking water, shaping his family's destiny and the Teton community.

J.C. Siddoway, the eldest son of James and Ruth, carried the family's ranching legacy forward. He continued the tradition of raising sheep, evolving the ranch's operations through challenging times such as the Great Depression and World Wars. J.C. and his wife, Ruth Bean, improved lambing techniques, a practice that continues today, ensuring the well-being of their livestock. They expanded the ranch's scope, increasing the number of breeding ewes, and played pivotal roles in business, community service, and public office.

Bill Siddoway, part of the third generation, married Jeanne, and together they upheld the family's ranching heritage. Their life together was deeply entwined with ranching, and even their honeymoon began in a sheepherder's tent on Burbank Creek. The Siddoways spent countless hours in the Tetons and Snake River Range, improving pack trails and herding sheep. Their commitment and passion for the land and livestock were unwavering.

Jeff and Cindy Siddoway, the fourth generation, took over the ranch. They relocated lambing sheds, adapted breeding programs to market demand, and diversified operations by raising elk and bison alongside sheep. Cindy made history as the first female president of the American Sheep Industry Association, while Jeff served in the Idaho Senate. Together, they raised their three children: Billie, Jodie, and J.C.

In 2021, the fifth generation emerged as J.C. Siddoway acquired a majority interest in Siddoway Sheep Company. His vision expanded the historic ranch. The grazing range grew, spanning parts of Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. J.C. introduced Grand Teton Lamb, offering exceptional lamb to restaurants, caterers, grocers, and consumers. His sister, Billie, a former business competition attorney, returned to the ranch and helped launch Grand Teton Lamb.

Generation Six

Grand Teton Lamb stands as a testament to the Siddoway family's enduring legacy. This family, deeply rooted in the land, cares for their livestock and community. They are continuing a tradition of resilience, hard work, and an unbreakable bond that has sustained them for over a century.
